I've been a shopping fool lately and my friend Darci and I found so many hot deals on products that were soon to expire at Hy-Vee. In the past week I can't tell you how many Hy-Vee locations in the Metro and Lawrence we hit but if it is anything less than 10 I'd be surprised. So the next time you head out to the store keep your eyes peeled for price reductions. We were able to pair almost every deal with a coupon, catalina offer and/or rebate to score these products for free or better than free!

Coors Light 6pk Bottles = 2/$6 (short expiration, 2-3 weeks)
Dole Salad Kits = $1 (short expiration, 3-5 days)
Easy Mac Single Cups = 5/$1 (expiration date about 1 1/2mos out)
Miller Genuine Draft 6pk Bottles = $2.98 and 2/$6 (short expiration, 2-3 weeks)
Pepperidge Farm Baked Naturals and Entertaining Crackers = $1 (expiration date 1 mos out)
Old Orchard Juice Cocktails 64oz = $.88 (weekly sale ends 2/2)
Pillsbury Ready To Bake Cookie Dough = $1 (short expiration, less than 5 days but freezable for up to 2mos)
Prego Heart Smart Italian Sauce = $1.99 (price reduction, reg. $2.39 - catalina $1 OYNO wyb 3)
Smart Balance Sour Cream = $.79 (short expiration)
Tide Stain Release = $2.98
Ziploc Bags = 2/$1, $1 and 2/$3

We even found a new Pillsbury catalina by accident when purchasing the Pillsbury cookie dough.

Buy any Pillsbury Refrigerated: Crescents, Cookies, Sweet Rolls, Grands! Biscuits, Grands! Cinnamon Rolls, Pie Crusts, Dinner Rolls, Loaves, Breadsticks or Pizza Crust between 1/25 and 2/21.

Buy (4) & get $2 OYNO
Buy (5) & get $3 OYNO
Buy (6) & get $4 OYNO

For more catalina offers available at Hy-Vee check out this list from KC Penny Pinchin Mama.

Also before I forget here is a heads up that this weekend Hy-Vee will be hosting another Red Hot Weekend Sale! Sale will take place Saturday and Sunday and for a sneak peak check out the Hy-Vee website or Facebook at 5pm on Thursday.

Finally I get to share with you a few photos from our shopping excursions this past week. This includes Hy-Vee and Dillons. In the end we actually made money because of the awesome catalina at Hy-Vee on Ziploc bags. I hope our great bargains inspire you to get out there and find your own hot deals!

If you've been following along you know I've talked about being behind on practically everything since the beginning of the holidays. Well let me tell you I really had to get my act together last week because I had one high value rebate that had to be postmarked by January 31st. Of course this happens to be the one rebate that takes the longest amount of time to prepare, especially if you do not submit it a few times a year. That rebate was for Caregivers Marketplace and since I had only submitted it one other time last year I had numerous receipts to prepare.  I don't remember the actual quantity of receipts I submitted but my rebate was for just over $45!

I also submitted my tokens for the Special K $10 Jeans Voucher and a reciept for the Keep the Jingle in the Holidays rebate. All together I submitted just shy of $70 in mail-in-rebates, so those rebates do add up just as long as they make it in the mail on time! Mine did...barely, I rushed to the Post Office thinking they were going to close in the next five minutes to find out that they are now open til 1PM on Saturdays. Good thing I left when I did as I had to stand in line for over 20 minutes. In the end it will be very well worth the time and frustration and this year I plan on submitting my Caregivers Marketplace rebate on a quarterly basis.

Do you have any stories to share about rushing to meet the deadline for submitting a rebate? If so I'd love to hear about them, just leave a comment and share your experience.

Several of you entered after the deadline, you may have not noticed it was a super short giveaway, the shortest in MTC history to be exact. Don't worry though there will be plenty more giveaway to come so keep your eyes peeled.

Congratulations are in order to Darci. She won a $35 gift card provided by Shell Lubricants and Motor Oil Matters through MyBlogSpark. Darci enjoy taking your vehicle to the pros for your next oil change for free or a fraction of the cost!
